The Mountain

Where Shilajit Begins.

Eleven days of climbing. A lifetime of reading stone. Every jar of Himalibuti starts here — long before the first grain is purified.

Chapter I · The Altitude

Where most expeditions turn back.

At 19,500 feet, the air holds less than half the oxygen of sea level. Snow blindness sets in within hours. Trained climbers consider this their limit. For our sourcing team, this is where the actual work begins — the threshold past which Shilajit forms in seams along the cliff face.

Chapter II · The Reading

Stone that looks like nothing.

Genuine Shilajit hides in cracks and overhangs — dark mineral leaks easily mistaken for moss, easily missed entirely. Reading it correctly is not a skill learned from textbooks. It takes seasons in the mountain. Most of what passes for Shilajit in markets was never read this way at all.

Chapter III · The Leaving Behind

What does not qualify stays.

Most of what the team finds does not meet the grade we ship. A season can produce a fraction of what was planned. We come home with less rather than come home with wrong. Compromising the standard was never the offer being made.

Chapter IV · The Descent

The journey down is slower.

Eleven days carrying raw stone through terrain where no machine helps. Each fragment hand-wrapped, weight-distributed across the team. From base camp to the purification site — another week of careful transit. And only then does the real work begin: the four months no shortcut can shorten.

This is the journey before the journey.

The Four Months

What slow looks like, at scale.

Sixteen weeks. No heat. No machines. No catalyst. The process that turns a fragment of stone into the resin that is recognised in the Charaka Samhita and your morning routine.

Phase I Week 1 — 2

The Raw Stone

Arrives in fragments. Inspected by hand. Sorted again. What does not pass is set aside.

Phase II Week 3 — 8

Sun Extraction

Fragments soaked in Himalayan spring water. Never boiled. Stirred by hand. Daily. For six weeks.

Phase III Week 9 — 13

The Filtering

Through fine muslin. Re-filtered. Re-filtered again. Until what passes through is the colour of amber.

Phase IV Week 14 — 16
HIMALIBUTI NEPAL SHILAJIT

The Resin

Slow open-air evaporation. Hand-stirred to the end. What was stone is now medicine.

For Context

Industrial Shilajit is produced in seven days with machines.
Himalibuti takes one hundred and twenty.

When the stone needs time,
we give it time.

The Heritage

Before it was a supplement, it was sacred.

Three thousand years before the West learned the word, Shilajit was already old in our texts. Himalibuti does not introduce it. It carries it forward.

शिलाजीत
· shi·la·jit ·
Conqueror of Mountains
~ 1000 BCE I

The Charaka Samhita named it “Rasayana.”

The foundational text of Ayurveda calls Shilajit that which sustains life and restores what time takes. The reference was already ancient when it was first written down.

Origin Story II

The sages followed the monkeys.

Ancient texts describe rishis observing primates consuming a dark mineral substance from cliff faces at high altitude. Their longevity could not be explained otherwise. Some discoveries did not require laboratories.

The Practice III

Always copper. Never iron.

Warm spring water at sunrise. A copper vessel, never iron. Stirred clockwise, dissolved fully. The ritual was specific because the chemistry was specific. We include a copper spoon for the same reason.

The Name IV

Shila means rock. Jit means conqueror.

A name given long before marketing existed. It described what was observed — a substance that emerged from the rock itself, and the strength it returned to those who took it. The name has not been improved upon.
